You expressly consent to receive phone calls (including autodialed and/or pre-recorded calls) text messages and email using automated technology at the phone number and email address you provided, even if it is a wireless number, regardless of whether you are on any Federal or state DNC ("Do Not Call") and/or DNE ("Do Not Email") list or registry. Online quotes may not be available for all Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement and Prescription Drug plans, but the agency that will be discussing these plan options with you is contracted with various Medicare health or prescription drug plans, which may include Medicare Advantage and/or Prescription Drug plans under the Federal government Medicare program and/or Medicare Supplement plans that are not under the Federal government Medicare program. The licensed agent may be compensated based on your enrollment in such a plan. Medicare Supplement plans are not connected with or endorsed by the U.S. Government or the Federal Medicare program. Submitting this form does NOT affect your current Medicare Part A and Part B enrollment, nor will it enroll you in a Medicare Advantage Plan, Prescription Drug Plan, or other Medicare plan.

Why is the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period Important?

The Medicare Annual Enrollment Period (AEP), which is often referred to as the Medicare open enrollment period, runs from October 15 to December 7 every year and keeps many people very busy! But why is it so important?

Changing Plans

Medicare plans may change from year to year. Changes in a plan may make it more expensive, reduce or remove services needed, or change in-network physicians or pharmacies. The Annual Enrollment Period offers people enrolled in Medicare the chance to review any changes to their plans and compare other plans that might be a better fit.

Medicare for Individual Needs

Even if a person’s Medicare plan doesn’t change, it may no longer be a good fit for their specific needs. They may need new health services or have a different financial situation. For example, adding or dropping a Prescription Drug Plan might be an important decision during AEP. And because plans change, a plan with different benefits may be more suited for an individual’s situation.

Time to Research

AEP lasts nearly two months! At first glance, that may seem like a long time, but research and deliberation can eat up much of that time. The long Medicare enrollment period offers plenty of opportunity for you to thoroughly review your current plan and the other options available to you. It also allows time to consult with family and physicians, if needed. In short, the required enrollment period gives people ample opportunity to research and select a plan in which the beneficiary is confident that the plan is well suited for them.

Note: You can enroll in a new plan any time during AEP, but remember to consider your schedule. The end of AEP includes Thanksgiving and the beginning of December, which is often a busy time with events, travel, and holiday preparations. We recommend starting your research earlier, if possible.
