Current Medicare Enrollment Season

From December 8 through December 31, these are the active enrollment periods for Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, and Medicare Prescription Drug Plans:

  • Initial Enrollment Period: You may be able to enroll if you are turning 65 or recently became eligible for Medicare
  • Special Enrollment Periods: You may be able to enroll if your Medicare situation has recently changed, such as moving to a new zip code, losing group coverage, moving into or out of a nursing home or prison, etc.

Upcoming enrollment period: Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period beginning January 1st.

Annual Enrollment Period (AEP)

Medicare Annual Enrollment Period runs each year from October 15 to December 7. What is the Annual Enrollment Period vs. Open Enrollment Period?

Initial Enrollment Period (IEP)

Your Initial Enrollment Period generally surrounds your 65th birthday but may occur if you otherwise become eligible for Medicare for the first time.

Special Enrollment Period (SEP)

You may be eligible if you experience a qualifying life event such as moving to a new zip code, losing employer coverage, or change in Medicaid status.
